Munich Exhibit Painting 2.0

Post War Painting Revisited
Read about this Munich exhibition looking to revise history of post war painting:
A new exhibition at Munich’s Museum Brandhorst has lofty aims:
to revise the history of painting since 1960
Titled Painting 2.0: Expression in the Information Age, the exhibit will be on display through April 30.
Many people, including art scholars, have minimized the importance of painting in postwar art. If they acknowledge it at all, it is to minimize or degrade the medium.
This exhibit is a bright contrast. 100 artists and 240 paintings are featured. It shows that not only has painting been NOT been merely derivative, it has evolved and mutated with the the changes in society. Painting is including other media including collage and photography.
Well-known artists such as Jasper Johns and Robert Rauschenberg are included.
Art and painting are blossoming even more today. This exhibit shows how even the power of the internet has affected painting. Digital images are part of our culture today.
This is of course not new. As media and technology changes, so does art.
